Photography tours to the Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye offers some of the most magical landscapes in Scotland and is a photographer’s paradise. The island features many unique features, which include the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing on the Trotternish Ridge. The cascading waterfalls of the Fairy Pools at Sligachan and the dramatic coastal scenery of Neist Point, and Elgol offer stunning views that can be enjoyed from dusk to dawn. For more information on the itinerary of this tour, follow this link.
Day 1 of the Isle of Skye photography tour starts with a pick up from your accommodation and journey towards the stunning Trossachs National Park, where we stop at the mighty falls of Falloch for that perfect picture opportunity. This is where we cross over the ancient national fault line and travel into the Scottish Highlands, where the landscapes change dramatically. Capture some beautiful images of the Rannoch Moor, which is covered in heather, lochans, and peat bogs. You also enjoy stunning views of the Black Mount and the Buachaille Etive Mor. We then head through Scotland’s most famous valley for panoramic images of the 3 Sisters of Glencoe. Feel history come alive when we tell the tales of the massacre of the Macdonald clan, which took place in 1692. This is where we stop for our lunch at the award-winning Clachaig Inn. We then travel through the Great Glen, travelling west toward the picturesque Eilean Donan Castle which sits on the banks of the famous 3 lochs. This has to be Scotland’s most photographed castle, heaped with history and Celtic legend and the perfect way to end our day. Soon we arrive at your accommodation on the Isle of Skye with enough time to explore your surroundings and enjoy a traditional Scottish meal in a local restaurant.
Day 2 of our photography tour and we travel to the north of the island towards the Trotternish Ridge, which is home to some of the most dramatic mountain formations in the world. Enjoy photographing the spectacular cliffs of the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, and the beautiful mountain pass of the Quiraing.
Day 3 we spend the day capturing the raw, untouched beauty of Skye’s southern coastline and mountain scenery. Elgol, which lies on the shores of Loch Scavaig on the south coast of Isle of Skye is the picture perfect location for those dramatic landscape images that you crave. We can enjoy the views of the Cuillin Mountains and explore the beach area, which offers many photographic opportunities. We then travel towards the Fairy Pools at Sligachan Bridge. This is where the Black Cuillin meets the shores of Sligachan and is the picture perfect image with views over the old enchanted bridge and the mighty Sgurr-Nan-Gillean.
Day 4 and we check out of our hotel and travel to the most westerly point on the island and take in the spectacular views at Neist Point. Here we are spoiled with the dramatic coastal views looking down towards the famous Neist Point lighthouse, where you may also be able to see dolphins and whales swimming by in the sea below during the early morning sunrise. It is a picturesque scene that is surrounded by sea cliffs and waterfalls, making it the best way to finish off our tour.
After your four-day photography tour, we soon arrive back towards the lowlands and drop you off at your accommodation of choice.
Photography tours in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. That is why we call it the ‘Athens of the North’. With a plethora of beautiful architecture and stunning historic sites, the capital of Scotland is a must visit for any photography enthusiast. Our photography tours and workshops of Edinburgh are designed for all levels of photography, from beginner to experienced levels. Come and join us on our fun photography tour and workshop. For more information on the Edinburgh photography tour, click this link.
Your guide will pick you up directly from your hotel and drive you to our first photography location in Edinburgh called Dean Village. The old mill town is famous for its historic architecture, riverside settings and well-preserved 19th-century village character. Here you can learn how to create the best compositions and how to use your camera on manual settings in an easy non formal way.
We will also send some time on Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile. The Mile, connecting Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, offers numerous photogenic spots including medieval buildings, narrow closes (alleyways), historic churches, and vibrant street scenes that would provide rich material for architectural and street photography.
Our final location is Calton Hill which offers one of the most iconic panoramic views of Edinburgh, featuring sweeping vistas that capture the city’s historic skyline, including Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, and the urban landscape. The hill’s elevated position provides photographers with a stunning vantage point, especially during golden hour or sunset when the light enhances the city’s architectural details.
